Windsor Castle recently unveiled its Christmas display, just in time for the festive season. This year, they have added miniature decorations, such as tiny gilded-wood tree ornaments, to Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House for the first time ever. This Dolls’ House is a 1:12 scale replica of an Edwardian residence that was gifted to Queen Mary after World War I, and it is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Visitors to the castle can marvel at the 25-foot-high Nordmann Fir tree in St George’s Hall, which is illuminated with thousands of lights and topped with a Garter Star. The Crimson Drawing Room also features a beautiful glistening tree, adding to the festive ambiance of the Castle. In the Waterloo Chamber, the 160-foot-long dining table is adorned with Christmas decorations, creating a truly magical setting.
As visitors make their way through the State Apartments, they are greeted by garlands on the Grand Staircase, adding to the festive cheer. Outside, wreaths and foliage decorate the gates and lampposts in the Castle grounds, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all who visit.
For those looking to dive deeper into the history of Christmas celebrations, there are craft activities and workshops available at the Learning Centre. These activities explore how the Victorians celebrated Christmas and provide a fun and educational experience for families.
