A man named Ismail Tajzai has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for robbing one sex worker and attempting to rob another at gunpoint. Tajzai, 26, pleaded guilty to robbery, attempted robbery, and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery. He also admitted to making threats, strangulation, and perverting the course of justice.
The incidents occurred on February 21 and 22 when Tajzai arranged appointments with the two sex workers. During the first robbery, he tied up the woman, brandished a handgun, and stole around £2,000 from her. The following day, Tajzai tried to rob another woman but ended up hitting her with the gun and attempting to strangle her before fleeing the scene.
Detectives in Westminster were able to identify Tajzai through DNA and fingerprints found at the crime scenes. They also recovered the gun and cable ties that he used during the robberies. Detective Constable Stephanie Clarke emphasized how Tajzai targeted vulnerable individuals and urged other victims to come forward and report similar crimes.
Detective Inspective Luke Bacon praised the officers for their dedication in apprehending Tajzai swiftly, preventing further attacks. He also commended the bravery of the victims for reporting the crimes, leading to Tajzai’s arrest and conviction.
It is crucial for individuals who have been victimized, especially in cases involving vulnerable populations, to seek help and report the crimes to the authorities. By speaking up, victims not only seek justice for themselves but also contribute to the safety of their communities by ensuring that dangerous individuals like Tajzai are held accountable for their actions.
