The new entrance to the London Underground at Paddington Station has opened to the public, providing access to the Bakerloo line. This new entrance features a significantly larger ticket hall with more ticket gates to speed up customer journeys. Improved signage has also been installed to help guide customers through the interchange. City of Westminster Councillor Geoff Barraclough shared a video of the new interchange, showcasing the quick journey from Praed Street to the Bakerloo station entrance.
Customers can now easily access the Bakerloo line from the Elizabeth line station through a direct link to the platforms. The new ticket hall, constructed by Sellar, is part of the Paddington Square development, which includes a public space with offices, shops, restaurants, and a landscaped public piazza. This development aims to enhance the arrival experience at Paddington Station with forty retail and dining spaces.
However, disruptions to National Rail services at Paddington are expected, particularly during the Christmas period until 2030. This is due to ongoing works on the mainline and at HS2’s Old Oak Common station. Some train services into the interchange will be affected over the next few years, with reduced services operating between Paddington and Ealing Broadway or Heathrow Airport terminals at times. Additionally, there will be no mainline trains operating to or from Paddington on specific dates in November and December.
