Police in Southwark are seeking the public’s help in identifying an elderly couple who may have vital information regarding a murder investigation. The incident occurred at Southwark Tube station in August, where a 28-year-old man was assaulted and later died in the hospital.

Despite months of effort, authorities have been unable to locate the couple who could provide crucial details about the case. In a bid to gather more information, the British Transport Police (BTP) has released CCTV images of the pair in question.

Detective Sergeant Tony Gittins emphasized the importance of these witnesses, stating that they are not suspected of any wrongdoing but may hold significant information that could assist in the investigation. He urged anyone who recognizes the individuals in the images to come forward by contacting the police.

The assault took place on the stairs of Southwark Underground station late in the evening, prompting a response from BTP officers. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, succumbed to his injuries two days later, surrounded by his family.

Initially charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, Rakeem Miles, 23, from East Street, Southwark, now faces a murder charge following the victim’s death. Those with information on the case can also reach out to the independent charity Crimestoppers to report anonymously.
