Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been cleared of any formal action by the Football Association (FA) after he inscribed a ‘Jesus loves you’ message on his rainbow-themed captain’s armband during Crystal Palace’s recent 1-0 victory at Ipswich Town on Tuesday night.
The FA’s decision, announced on Wednesday morning, comes after Guehi, a devout Christian, was reminded prior to the game at Portman Road that religious messaging on kit is prohibited. This reminder was prompted by the 24-year-old’s previous rainbow armband in Palace’s match against Newcastle United, which bore the message ‘I love Jesus.’
