Zak Starkey’s Super Band: A Musical Journey from Glastonbury to the Cavern Club
In the heart of the bustling music scene, a new band has emerged, capturing the attention of fans worldwide. Mantra of the Cosmos, led by Zak Starkey, the renowned drummer from The Who and son of Ringo Starr, is making waves with their unique sound and star-studded lineup. Joining Zak are British music legends Shaun Ryder and Bez of Happy Mondays, along with Andy Bell, the lead vocalist of Erasure. Together, they recently released a mesmerizing psychedelic single titled ‘Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous),’ featuring none other than Noel Gallagher.
A Journey Through Time and Sound
Mantra of the Cosmos traces its roots back to 2023 when the band made their debut at the iconic Glastonbury Festival, wowing audiences with their electrifying performances. Since then, they have continued to captivate fans with singles like ‘Gorilla Guerilla’ and ‘X (Wot You Sayin?),’ leaving them eagerly awaiting more music from this dynamic group.
Behind the Scenes: A Glimpse into the Band’s World
Shaun Ryder and Bez offer a glimpse into the inner workings of Mantra of the Cosmos, revealing a relaxed and collaborative approach to their music. Shaun shares, “We get together whenever Zak gives us a call. You know, we’re all doing all sorts of things, but we love to get together and make new music and enjoy each other’s company.” Despite not having an album out yet, the band remains optimistic about the future, with Shaun emphasizing, “As long as we’re still all on the planet living, making music will go on.”
A Touch of Humanity in the Music Industry
In a poignant turn of events, Zak Starkey’s health took center stage recently, forcing the band to cancel a secret gig in London due to his serious health concerns. Diagnosed with a blood clot in his right leg, Zak was advised by doctors to prioritize his well-being and take a rest. Despite this setback, the band continues to forge ahead, recently performing at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club, where the Beatles once graced the stage. Reflecting on the experience, Bez shared, “It felt really special to be down there with Zak and it was everything we could have ever imagined. We left feeling we had done the right thing.”
Even in the face of adversity, Mantra of the Cosmos remains a testament to the power of music and the strength of friendship. As Shaun Ryder aptly puts it, “This is Zak’s baby, really. So we’re just helping out, really, on the whole thing. We feel like ‘super people’ because Zak’s got many mates and he chose us to help out with this very special project.” Through their music and camaraderie, the band exemplifies the true essence of unity and creativity in the music industry.
