Get Living, a build-to-rent company, has revealed updated plans for the west site of the Elephant and Castle Town Centre development. The original project was approved in 2019 to replace the London College of Communications (LCC) site, but changes in regulations concerning building safety and sustainability necessitated revisions to the design.

After an initial round of public consultation in July, attended by over 200 community members, Get Living has refined its proposals. The new plans feature 507 homes, including 49 affordable rent and 116 social rent units, as well as student residential accommodations. The architectural design, landscaping, and improvements to the link between Elephant and Castle and Pastor Street have also been updated.

To gather feedback from the local community, Get Living will host two drop-in consultation sessions at The Castle Centre on October 22 and 23 from 3pm to 7pm. Additionally, an online webinar will be held on October 24 from 6pm to 7.30pm for those unable to attend in person.

Rick de Blaby, the CEO of Get Living, expressed optimism about the community engagement and feedback received so far. He emphasized the company’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to realize their vision for Elephant and Castle in a way that benefits everyone involved.

While the developer is currently working on the East site, scheduled for completion in 2026, plans for the West site involve providing retail and leisure space, workspace, homes, and new transportation infrastructure. The construction of a new university building for LCC is also in progress, with the college expected to relocate to the new campus in September 2027, leading to the commencement of works on the West Site in January 2028.
