Westminster City councillor Gillian Arrindell has sadly passed away, as confirmed by the local authority. Council leader Adam Hug paid tribute to her, describing her as a passionate campaigner with a great sense of humor.

Cllr Hug praised Arrindell for her dedication to helping residents with various issues such as housing, welfare, and domestic violence. He also mentioned her contributions as the Lead Member for Air Quality and Disability Champion. The council expressed their condolences to her friends and family during this difficult time.

Fellow cabinet member Cllr Liza Begum also shared her thoughts, calling Arrindell an ‘amazing’ councillor and community advocate. She fondly remembered her colleague and friend, stating that she will be deeply missed.

Carl Arrindell, Gillian’s brother, shared the heartbreaking news of her passing. He mentioned that she had been moved to end-of-life care after suffering a second stroke. Carl posted a touching photo of Arrindell surrounded by loved ones, reminiscing about better days with his sister.

Arrindell, who was elected as Labour’s first councillor for Vincent Square ward in 2022, also served on important committees such as Housing and Regeneration Police and Scrutiny Committee and the Inner West London Mental Health Services Committee.
