Former Crystal Palace and Millwall manager, Ian Holloway, has recently been appointed as the new manager of Swindon Town until the end of the season. This comes as his first job since being let go from his position as Grimsby Town boss in December 2020. Holloway will be taking over from Mark Kennedy at the County Ground.
Having previously managed Crystal Palace and Millwall, the 61-year-old Holloway is no stranger to the world of football. He led Palace to the Premier League in 2012 after a play-off final victory over Watford at Wembley. Additionally, he has also managed teams like QPR and Plymouth in the past.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Holloway stated, “I’m delighted to be back working in football after a period out of the game. I wanted to get back into it if the right opportunity arose which, with this opportunity, I feel is the perfect fit for me.” He further added, “Conversations happened very quickly and both sides were very keen to get the deal done and of course, I was delighted to engage with a club like Swindon Town, a club of whom I know a lot about due to my location and knowledge of the local area.”
Holloway emphasized his desire to unite the team and the fans to achieve success and create a positive atmosphere both on and off the pitch. He expressed his eagerness to meet everyone at The Nigel Eady County Ground and looked forward to a fruitful collaboration.
It is evident that Holloway’s vast experience in managing various clubs, including those in the Premier League, will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Swindon Town. His track record of achieving promotion and success with teams in the past bodes well for the future of the club under his leadership.
Fans and players alike can anticipate an exciting and promising period ahead with Ian Holloway at the helm. His passion for the game and desire to make a positive impact on the club make him a valuable addition to Swindon Town. With his appointment, the team is set to embark on a new chapter filled with potential and ambition.
