Jeremy Corbyn’s Brother and Others Charged After Palestine Protest

Four individuals from South London, including Piers Corbyn, brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, have been charged with offences following a Palestine solidarity protest in central London on Saturday. Among those charged are Tessa Roe-Stanton, Starr Thomas, Christian Adair, and Corbyn himself.

Charges and Arrests

Three individuals were charged with assaulting an emergency worker, obstructing police, and incitement. Additionally, two men aged 75 and 73, believed to be Jeremy Corbyn and Labour MP John McDonnell, were interviewed at a central London police station and released pending further investigations.

Nine people in total were charged yesterday, and they are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in the coming days. Since the arrests on Saturday, 25 individuals have been bailed.

Police Response and Investigation

Commander Adam Slonecki, who oversaw the policing operation, expressed concern over the escalation in criminal behavior during the protest. He commended the officers for their professional response and thanked those from other forces who provided assistance. While no officers were injured, three were spat at, and one was physically assaulted. They are currently receiving support.

Slonecki emphasized the ongoing investigation, stating that the police are diligently reviewing CCTV footage, social media videos, and body-worn camera footage to identify further individuals involved in criminal activities. He assured the public that additional arrests and charges will be made as the investigation progresses.
