The former Tory MP Sir David Davies has recently come forward after reviewing the evidence on the convicted murderer Lucy Letby, a former nurse who was found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others between June 2015 and June 2016. Letby was sentenced to life in prison in August 2023. However, Sir David believes that there is a high chance that Letby is actually innocent.

Speaking to Christopher Hope on GB News, Sir David mentioned that he spent three months carefully examining the evidence before coming to this conclusion. He pointed out that there could be other explanations for the babies’ deaths, such as poor hospital management or the presence of a superbug called Pseudomonas. He emphasized that there is a strong possibility that Letby is not guilty, estimating it to be around 90 percent.

Peter Green, a former president of the Royal Statistical Society, also raised concerns about the evidence presented in court. He noted that the data only focused on a limited number of incidents that occurred while Letby was on duty and did not take into account other events.

Additionally, retired consultant neonatologist Dr. Mike Hall, who did not testify in court, highlighted significant flaws in the medical evidence presented during the trial. He mentioned that some statements made by the prosecution’s expert witnesses may have been misleading and not accurately reflected the babies’ health conditions.

These new perspectives from experts like Sir David Davies, Peter Green, and Dr. Mike Hall shed light on the complexity of the case and raise questions about the conviction of Lucy Letby. As more information comes to light, it is important to consider all angles and ensure that justice is served fairly and accurately.
