Crofton Junior School in Petts Wood, Orpington, is not your average junior school. The school has recently been praised for its outstanding rating by Ofsted, with a particular focus on encouraging students to experience the magic of live orchestras as part of their ‘bucket list’ before they leave the school.

According to the inspector’s report, the staff at Crofton Junior School have high expectations for their students, which in turn motivates the children to study with increasing independence as they progress through the school. The report also highlighted the strong relationship between the pupils and staff, noting that the students feel comfortable reporting any concerns they may have and trust that the staff will address them promptly.

One of the key highlights of the school is its wide range of extra-curricular activities, which include robotics, chess, gardening, and yoga. These activities are designed to help students develop their talents and interests, and the inspector noted that they contribute to the students’ wider development. In fact, the school has a list of 51 things that students should do before they leave, including staying away from home, seeing an orchestra, and toasting a marshmallow. These experiences are aimed at enhancing the students’ cultural capital and providing them with a well-rounded education.
