Emergency Water Main Repairs Cause Major Road Closure

A water main burst on Baker Street in Marylebone has led to the closure of the road as emergency repairs are being carried out. The closure affects the northbound side of A41 Baker Street, stretching from A501 Marylebone Road to Melcombe Street, near Baker Street Tube station. The issue was initially reported yesterday at around 4pm and continues to impact the area this morning.

Due to the road closure, several London bus routes have been redirected. Among the affected routes are 13, 113, 139, 189, and 274. Transport for London (TfL) has provided details on the diversion routes for these buses. For instance, routes 13, 113, 274, and N113 heading towards Lords Cricket Ground are diverted from Baker Street/York Street to Park Road/Alpha Close via York Street and Gloucester Place due to the emergency water works. Stops at Baker Street Station and Park Road/Ivor Place are not being serviced by these buses.

In addition, routes 139 and 189 heading towards Lords Cricket Ground are diverted from Baker Street/York Street to Rossmore Road/London Business School via York Street and Gloucester Place. Similar to the other routes, stops at Baker Street Station and Park Road/Ivor Place are not included in the service due to the ongoing repairs.

The water main burst occurred on the northbound side of A41 Baker Street, specifically between the A501 Marylebone Road and Melcombe Street, just outside Baker Street Tube station. This section of the road had to be closed off, leading to the diversions of bus routes 13, 113, 139, 189, and 274 as reported by Inrix.

The situation is being continuously monitored, and emergency workers are diligently working on the repairs. The closure of Baker Street and the redirection of bus routes have caused inconvenience to commuters and residents in the area.
