Londoners Left Astonished by Car Parked on 49m High Chimney

This morning, September 19, Londoners were left in awe as they spotted a Nissan Qashqai parked on the side of a chimney, taking parking to new heights in the city. The car, a fibreglass replica, is one and a half times the size of a normal Qashqai, measuring 6.5 metres in length, 2.7 metres in width, and 2.4 metres in height, weighing a hefty 750kg.

The Unusual Parking Spot

Located on the Truman brewery chimney in Brick Lane, Shoreditch, this eye-catching display has left passers-by perplexed as to how the car ended up in such an unconventional location. The model car, painstakingly crafted over seven weeks, was hoisted into position using two cranes before being installed on the 49-meter-high, 200-year-old chimney with the help of around 50 individuals.

Celebrating the Launch of the New Nissan Qashqai

This unique stunt is part of an ongoing campaign to celebrate the launch of the new Nissan Qashqai, proudly manufactured in Sunderland. A spokesperson for the car manufacturer expressed their pride in the British-built model and the desire to showcase it in a prominent and unforgettable manner.

“We wanted to show off this British-built model for everyone to see, and what better way than to park it in a place where it can’t be missed,” the spokesperson stated.

Since 2006, over four million Nissan Qashqai vehicles have been produced in Sunderland, with around 140,000 e-Power Qashqai models rolling off the production line since 2022. The newest model boasts a sleeker, sportier design with upgraded interior features, including Google integration and an ‘Around View Monitor’ to aid in parking maneuvers in tight spaces.

The striking display atop the chimney will remain in place until Sunday, September 22, captivating onlookers and sparking conversations about the innovative marketing approach taken by Nissan.
