The Belarusian Hajun monitoring group has reported that Russian MiG-31K interceptor aircraft, capable of carrying hypersonic Kinzhal ballistic missiles, have been spotted in Belarus for the first time in 18 months. This development has raised concerns about a potential new massive strike on Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine. Military expert Oleksii Hetman has warned that the transfer of these warplanes could be a preparation for such an attack, similar to the one on August 26. The Main Intelligence Directorate has also issued warnings about a possible new strike by Russian forces.

In addition to the presence of Russian warplanes in Belarus, there have been reports of Belarusian troops amassing along the border with Ukraine. Tanks, weapons, rocket systems, air defenses, and special operations forces have been assembled by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko near the Gomel region, close to the Ukrainian border. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has accused Minsk of using these troop build-ups as a guise for military exercises. Recent footage showing Belarusian tanks and military equipment being transported on trains towards the Ukrainian border has further heightened tensions in the region.

Andrii Kovalenko, from the Center for Countering Disinformation, has warned of possible provocations by Russia, citing a recent incident near Mozyr where a Russian strike accidentally targeted an oil refinery. This has raised concerns that Russia may be planning provocations against Belarus as well. Ukrainian intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the situation in Belarus to assess any potential threats to Ukraine and ensure a timely response to any hostile actions.

The escalating military activities in Belarus and the presence of Russian warplanes in the region have raised alarms in Kyiv and other capitals across Europe. The possibility of a new massive strike on Ukraine has put the country on high alert, with defense forces preparing for any potential threats. The situation remains fluid, and diplomatic efforts are underway to de-escalate tensions and prevent further conflict in the region. It is crucial for all parties involved to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue to address security concerns and maintain peace in the region.
