I recently had the opportunity to dine at a restaurant in Covent Garden called Gaucho, where tango dancers gracefully moved between tables as guests enjoyed their meals.

Situated in the heart of Covent Garden, Gaucho is conveniently located near the underground station, making it a popular choice for those looking for a delicious meal in the area. Despite the bustling surroundings, stepping inside the restaurant instantly transported me away from the chaos of the city.

Upon entering, I was greeted by warm and inviting lighting, with an illuminated bar beckoning me to come closer. A cloak closet at the entrance provided a convenient place to store jackets and bags, allowing guests to fully enjoy their dining experience.

I visited Gaucho with my boyfriend, and we started our evening with a few cocktails upstairs before heading to the basement level for our meal. The margarita with chimichurri salt was a refreshing choice, perfect after navigating the 193 steps at the station to reach the restaurant.

For starters, my boyfriend ordered the prawn aguachile with avocado, grilled corn, orange, and herbs in a ponzu dressing, describing it as a great palate cleanser. I opted for the superstraccia salad with orange, fennel, and basil, a light and fresh choice to begin our meal.

Moving on to our main courses, I chose the spaghetti romesco, which was beautifully coated in a rich sauce and served in a perfect portion size. My boyfriend’s highlight of the evening was the chorizo sirloin steak with crackling and fries, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. He particularly enjoyed the chimichurri sauce that accompanied the steak.

As we savored our main courses, the tango dancing began, adding an extra layer of entertainment to our dining experience. The dancers moved elegantly across the restaurant floor, weaving between tables and captivating the attention of all guests. Their performances were mesmerizing, and we couldn’t help but watch in awe as they changed outfits between dances.

After the spectacular entertainment, we decided to indulge in dessert. My boyfriend chose the dulce de leche cheesecake with toasted marshmallow, a creamy and decadent treat that he enjoyed so much he finished it before I could even snap a photo.

Overall, our dining experience at Gaucho in Covent Garden was truly memorable. Between the delicious food, elegant tango dancing, and cozy atmosphere, it was a meal unlike any other we had experienced in London. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and grateful for the unique and delightful evening we had shared.
