WorkJam, a digital workplace platform, recently conducted a study on the challenges faced by the UK hospitality industry in managing frontline workers. The research highlighted the importance of enhancing technical capabilities and utilizing digital tools to improve employee engagement, retention, and customer experience. The survey revealed that 99% of hospitality organizations believe that employee experience directly impacts customer experience, and over 80% acknowledge that it also affects the bottom line.

Despite recognizing the significance of employee experience, the majority of organizations are not providing the necessary flexibility for a great employee experience. Only 20% of hospitality organizations offer flexible pay options, and just 21% provide shift-swap scheduling. The survey also identified significant gaps in technical capabilities within the sector, with nearly 70% of respondents stating that their organizations lack the tools for flexible scheduling and efficient workforce management.

Moreover, almost 80% of survey participants admitted that current processes for managing frontline staff need improvement and that their organizations should invest more in technology to support frontline workers. Additionally, respondents were asked about the challenges posed by the new Employment Rights Bill, with many expressing a lack of understanding about its implications.

Mark Williams, Managing Director EMEA at WorkJam, emphasized the importance of addressing the disconnect between workforce management, employee experience, and operational efficiencies. He highlighted the urgency for hospitality organizations to enhance their technical capabilities and empower their workforce to navigate internal and external economic pressures effectively.

To help address these challenges, WorkJam recently partnered with DailyPay to provide earned wage access, allowing frontline workers to access their wages as they earn them. This initiative aims to bring financial flexibility to the hospitality sector at no cost to the organization. By integrating scheduling, communication, task management, and financial tools into one app, WorkJam enables organizations to improve the overall employee experience and simplify how employees manage their earnings and time.

The collaboration with DailyPay is designed to create a more connected and motivated workforce while streamlining essential financial processes for employees. By leveraging the WorkJam app, frontline workers have everything they need to perform their jobs effectively at their fingertips, ultimately enhancing employee retention, customer experience, and business benefits for hospitality organizations.
