After a summer of luxury in the Love Island villa, many contestants have used their stint on the show as a springboard for their careers. The latest former contestant to soar to new heights is Tasha Ghouri, who participated in the eighth series in 2022 and made it to the final with her current beau Andrew Le Page, securing fourth place. She’s currently lighting up the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional Aljaz Skorjanec and is predicted to achieve great success after her time on the show. Several Love Islanders have gone on to carve out impressive careers for themselves.
Amber Davies clinched victory in the third series in 2017 with then-boyfriend Kem Cetinay and has since forged a successful career as a West End performer. Her breakout role was in 9 to 5: The Musical where she played Judy Bernly, and she has since starred in Bring It On: The Musical, Back to the Future: The Musical and Pretty Woman. She had her own one-off special on ITV titled Amber and Dolly: 9 To 5, which followed her journey to landing her first stage role in Dolly Parton’s musical. Earlier this year, Amber competed on Dancing on Ice and was eliminated a week before the final, finishing in fifth place.
Olivia Attwood also appeared on the third series in 2017 and came in third place with now-ex-boyfriend Chris Hughes. Since her stint on the show, she’s made appearances on a number of TV programs including Celebs Go Dating, The Only Way is Essex and a brief spell on I’m A Celebrity. She landed her own reality series on ITVBe, titled Olivia Attwood Meets Her Match and has ventured into presenting with several documentaries and TV shows. In addition to hosting her own podcast called So Wrong It’s Right, Olivia has been a regular panelist on Loose Women since last year.
Wes Nelson finished fourth with his then-girlfriend Megan Barton-Hanson in the fourth series in 2018. He’s appeared on numerous TV shows including Dancing on Ice, The X Factor: Celebrity and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which he won. Wes released his debut song See Nobody with Hardy Caprio in 2020, which reached number three in the UK charts. He has since dropped several singles with record label EMI Records and collaborated with artists such as French Montana and Craig David.
Zara was also a contestant on the same series as Wes in 2018 but was voted off earlier in the series. After kindling a romance with Sam Thompson post her time on the show, she joined him on Made in Chelsea as a cast member from 2019 to 2020. She has since transitioned into a television presenter and has hosted several hard-hitting documentaries including Revenge Porn and Disordered Eating on BBC Three. Zara McDermott: Uncovering Rape Culture was nominated for a National Television Award in 2022.
Molly-Mae Hague, who graced our screens on Love Island in 2019 and secured second place with Tommy Fury, parted ways with him earlier this year. The duo are proud parents to their daughter Bambi. She’s the reigning queen of Instagram among the Islanders, boasting a staggering 8.3 million followers. Molly inked a hefty £500,000 contract with Pretty Little Thing and was appointed as the company’s creative director after her stint as a brand ambassador. She has also launched a tanning range and bagged sponsorship deals with big names like Starbucks.
Maura Higgins, best mate to Molly-Mae Hague, also featured on the same series and clinched fourth place with her now ex-beau Curtis Pritchard. Post-show, she unveiled her own false eyelashes line in Primark and has made numerous television appearances. She’s ventured into presenting and has hosted the Irish edition of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make Up Star and the Love Island USA spin-off show. In 2021, she signed up with Elite Model Management and is set to make her acting debut in an Irish film due for release this year.
