A group of famous DJs, including Fatboy Slim, are coming together to host a seven-hour charity rave at London’s Ministry of Sound to raise funds for music producer Ashley Beedle. Beedle, a British house music legend, is currently facing serious health challenges, including mobility and speech issues after a brain bleed and stroke earlier this year, as well as a battle with late-stage prostate cancer. His manager and friend, Adam Dewhurst, organized the event to help support Beedle’s ongoing healthcare needs, as he requires 24-hour care and will be in a wheelchair for life.
Despite his health struggles, Beedle’s positivity and resilience have inspired many, leading to a successful GoFundMe campaign that has raised over £167,000. The support from the music community, including artists like Mark Ronson and Calvin Harris, has been overwhelming. Dewhurst mentioned that Beedle has been discharged from a rehabilitation center and is slowly regaining his ability to speak. The Ministry of Sound gig is just one of three Dance for Ashley events planned, with additional fundraisers in Belfast and Dublin. Dewhurst hopes that with continued support, Beedle will be able to move into more suitable accommodation with his wife in the near future.
