Jackson Gibbons, Director of the Basketball Academy at City of London Academy Southwark (CoLA Southwark), has been honored with a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Kings New Year Honours list for his exceptional contributions to basketball, sport, and youth development.

Since founding the CoLA Southwark Basketball Academy in 2013, Mr. Gibbons has been instrumental in nurturing the talents of young athletes across various age groups, from under-12s to sixth-formers. Under his guidance, the academy has achieved remarkable success, clinching numerous national championships, including the U17 Girls National title, U19 Girls National title, and finishing as runners-up in the U19 Boys National category in the 2023-24 season alone. Over the past decade, the academy has amassed an impressive total of 33 national titles, a testament to Mr. Gibbons’ dedication and expertise in developing sporting prowess.
